Five Generations of
Matcha Mastery
Founded in 1898 (Meiji 31) in the tea-growing region of Japan, our journey began as a traditional wholesaler of hand-rolled tea. We specialize in Sashima-cha, a tea variety with roots in the early Edo period. Nurtured by fertile soil and cold winters, our tea is renowned for its rich flavor and robust aroma.
We employ our proprietary 'Black Arch Farming Method,' a unique technique where tea plants are covered with black shading nets over arched pipes for extended periods. This process minimizes astringency while maximizing the tea's natural umami and sweetness.
Today, Koichi Matsuda, the 5th generation owner and a certified 'Japanese Tea Evangelist,' preserves this legacy. From converting a former schoolhouse into our first factory in 1948 to achieving JFS-B safety certification in 2023, we combine over a century of tradition with modern standards to share the authentic joy of Japanese tea with the world.
